King, a Learn To Be student
"We are so grateful for the incredible work LearnToBe has done with my son, King… His ELA grade has improved tremendously… and he's even started reading for fun, something we never expected. The tutors have played such a pivotal role in helping him get promoted to 4th grade after retesting. We can't thank them enough for their dedication and support. In Math, King has also made noticeable strides. The patience and targeted instruction from LearnToBe have helped him build confidence and strengthen his understanding of challenging concepts. His improvement in both subjects has been nothing short of amazing, and we are beyond thankful for the progress he's made. Thank you so much for everything!"

Their Words, Not Ours

"My name is Meenakshi, and I am a high school senior from New Jersey. I have been with Learn To Be for over 3 years now, have completed over 615 hours of tutoring, and have had the wonderful privilege of participating in the inaugural Tutor Corp program."
Meenakshi V. — Tutor, 615+ Hours
"I'm a retired teacher from New York City. I've been involved with Learn To Be for several years now, and have achieved over 450 hours of tutoring. Tutees get high-quality help without having to pay the exorbitant fees that many tutors today charge."
Larry G. — Retired Teacher, 450+ Hours
"When I first joined LTB as a Federal Work Study student, it began as a means to an end. I needed a job. But what I've gained from this experience has been far more valuable than a paycheck. The joy, purpose, and fulfillment I feel from being part of this program have exceeded every expectation."
Marla B. — Federal Work Study Tutor
"With Thanksgiving approaching, I want to express my gratitude for being part of the Learn To Be community. It has been a privilege to volunteer alongside you and to support the students we serve. The impact we make together is truly meaningful."

Volunteer-Powered

Learn To Be's tutors are volunteers — high school students, college students, retired teachers, and working professionals who donate their time. This means nearly every dollar goes directly to supporting the tutoring program, not paying instructors.

At $6.33 per hour, we deliver high-quality 1-on-1 tutoring at a fraction of what families would pay on the open market — where the average tutor charges $40–60/hour.

$6
per hour vs $50 market rate
That's 8x more efficient than hiring a private tutor.
"Programs like this are so important. Not every family can afford tutoring, and Learn To Be makes sure kids still get the help they need to succeed… If you know a child who needs help or if you're able to support, I highly recommend looking into Learn To Be. This program is changing lives 💕"
